A recent article in the San Fernando Valley Business Journal said that sales of privately held, family businesses should increase as these Baby Boomer owners near retirement and find that they haven't been able to save enough while working. They'll have to sell to provide funds to live on. Also, many don't have heirs who are interested in taking over and key employees may not have enough cash to buy the business.
